The Great Commission -
Matthew 28:19 - 20 (NIV)
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
From this verse we get three of the five purposes of the church:
Mission - "Go and make disciples"
Fellowship - "baptizing them"
Discipleship - "teaching them to obey"
The other two purposes of the church come from the Great Commandment.
